In theory, that means data isn't being sent back to Google. At the same time, the fact that it is AI does add more fuel to the broader security fire, especially when you think about things like prompt injection and the way new AI capabilities can expand attack surfaces.",[12,55,56],{},"But no software is perfect. And that's exactly why we think organizations should structure their response around how they evaluate vendors overall, rather than reacting to AI as a category on its own.",[12,58,59],{},"In other words: if Google has the ability to push software to employee systems, is this particular push beyond what you consider an acceptable threshold of functionality being added without announcement or explicit opt-in?",[12,61,62],{},"That's the real governance question.",[12,64,65],{},"It's very easy to get swept up in hype or fearmongering when it comes to AI, security, and data controls. But it's also worth remembering that your data is already controlled, in various ways, by a wide range of vendors.
