Automated IM Triage

The Challenge

The same firm receives 5–10 information memorandums a week from potential acquisition targets. Each one needed to be read, assessed against the firm's portfolio and acquisition criteria, and discussed with the team before a view could be formed. That's 10–15 minutes of focused reading per document, minimum - plus back-and-forth among senior staff. With deal flow unpredictable, some weeks were manageable. Others weren't.

The Solution

We built an automated triage system that activates the moment an IM hits the inbox. It reads the document, extracts the key information, and assesses it against the firm's active portfolio and acquisition criteria. By the time anyone on the team opens the email, there's already a structured summary and a traffic-light score waiting for them: green, amber, or red. No manual reading required to form an initial view.

The Outcome

Every IM is now processed instantly on arrival. The team's attention goes to the documents that warrant it, not to the ones that don't. Senior hours that were being spent on triage are now spent on actual deal work. Still live and running today.
